Paddington Bear completed his AKC Championship by going Winners Dog at the Poodle Club of America Regional Specialty in 2005. His huge, thick coat and rib spring belied the fact that he was only 15 months old at the time.
Named after his Uncle Bear (Ch. Clarion Sweet Barley), Paddington Bear is a deep bodied, moderate, well-made, square boy with a solid front and strong rear. He reminds us tremendously of Bear. His sire is Nicky, Eng. & Am. Champion Minarets Reach To The Stars TP. Paddington has Nicky’s tremendous joy in living, and his well-made front comes from both his sire and his dam, Brea (Ch. Clarion BarKing Scenario). Brea is a Multiple Specialty Best In Show winner and a Multiple Group Winner. She is a strong representative of the Surrey dogs in her pedigree with her deep body, well laid back shoulder, and strong reach and drive. In addition, she brings forward a robust good health from this family of dogs which is shown by the long lives, excellent teeth and healthy ears. Her mother, Blair, (Ch. Clarion Sweet Scandal) lived to be almost 20 years old and had only lost one tooth during her lifetime.
His litter sister is Isabel, Ch. Clarion Conspiracy and his baby sister is Ursula, Clarion Constellation. She is co-owned with Karin Berlind and will be shown later this year. Richard Beauchamp co-bred these Brea children as he co-bred Brea. They are a continuation of a relationship in our breeding program which has lasted over 25 years.
Paddington Bear is just beginning his career as a sire and from his first litter, there are three Champions: Ch. Clarion Camelot Comedian owned by Kim Caudle and Ch. Clarion Camelot Kerfusion. Their litter brother, Ch. Clarion Camelot Unruffled owned by Greg Self was Winners Dog at PCA 2008. This made thier mother, Austen a Top Producer from her first litter.
